World Storytelling Day: a funny story of success
In the spirit of #worldstorytellingday, our company’s mastermind shares a relatable and funny story of success and disbelief…
How many of you have managed to close a really important business deal and thought that it was too good to be true?
And, now, it’s storytelling time!
“Many years ago, I visited one of the world’s biggest supermarket chains with a partner, who is also a very good friend. We went there to present some of our products.
A few minutes before entering the premises, I met my friend and he said while laughing,
‘Brother, we will go in and, in five minutes, they’ll kick us out. It will be a valuable experience to remember!’
So, we went into the meeting room… The meeting was going surprisingly well and time flew. We stayed for about one and a half hour, which is A LONG TIME! Nobody stays in that room that long!
The outcome? Success! We had closed the deal!
On our way out, we were trying our hardest to keep a straight face and not grin!
At the moment we were crossing the gate, we heard someone yelling ‘Hey, mister! Excuse me, sir!’.
We broke out in a cold sweat… We looked at each other and my friend told me,
‘Dude, it was Candid Camera… We got pranked and, now, we will turn around and see the whole crew!’
We looked over our shoulders… frightened, yet ready to burst out laughing!
It was actually a guard asking for the visitor cards, which we had apparently forgotten to give back, because we were on cloud nine.
We headed to our cars, pale and staggering. My friend kept mumbling,
‘Don’t laugh! Stop! Keep yourself together until we go into the car! They are watching us!’
Long story short, despite all the agony, we managed to maintain our professionalism and walk away with a big business success.
The morale of the story?
Believe in yourself and, with hard work and persistence, everything is possible… No matter how small you appear to be compared to the big fish!”
