Greek Food Products


In Greece, during the Holy Week, events and Christian customs take place to celebrate the upcoming Easter, the most important celebration of Christianity.

A renowned custom is the figuration of the famous “Pashalina Koulourakia” in order to treat our relatives and our beloved guests. “Koulourakia” are traditional Greek Easter cookies that families are making every year before the holly Easter. Today’s recipe is a one of those that we have got from our grandmothers, thus it is precious, and we are very happy to share it with all of you! These cookies are perfect for dunking in coffee or tea.

The recipe is approximately for 25 cookies


  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 big eggs and an egg white
  • 4 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tbs cognac
  • Zest of one orange
  • 1 egg & 10 ml milk for the egg wash

First, you have to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl of a mixer, hit together the butter and the sugar, then add the vanilla, the orange zest, the cognac and the two eggs and beat until the mixture becomes fluffy.

After that, in a separate bowl combine the flour and baking powder and add them to the butter and sugar. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead by hand a few minutes until the dough becomes smooth. Cut it in small pieces and roll it into a “worm shape”, as the picture above, by twisting the two ends together and place them on non-stick paper in a baking pan.

At this point you must beat the egg wash and carefully brush the tops of all the cookies (optionally you can sprinkle a little sesame seeds).Now you are ready to bake them until they get a golden-brown color, about 15 minutes.
