Thanksgiving apple caramel pie

Fall apple caramel pie recipe

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE APPLES

3/4 c. brown sugar
20ml virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tbs. salt
4 peeled and sliced apples

FOR THE CAKE

3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 large eggs 
50ml virgin olive oil or 1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Directions

Firstly, Preheatoven to 350°. In a small pot over medium heat, melt brown sugar, virgin olive oil, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt and then cook until slightly thickened, (about 2minutes).

Pour the caramel sauce into prepared pan and layer apples on top. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg. 

In an other large bowl, beat together olive oil/butter using a hand mixer and sugar until softened. Add eggs one at a time and add the vanilla extract. Then, don’t stop beating until combined. Pour in the milk and mix until fully incorporated. Add remaining dry ingredients and pour butter over the apples and bake until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean, (about 1 hour).

Let it cool in pan about 15 minutes and then you are ready to enjoy!
