KALAMATA OLIVES: THE HEALTHIEST OF THE ENTIRE WORLD!

It’s not a secret that doctors, nutritionists and dieticians all over the world, call Kalamata olives one of the healthiest foods on earth due to their content in sodium, healthy fats and natural antioxidants.

According to a new clinical study of Greek scientists from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens in collaboration with the 401-military hospital, kalamata table olives are the healthiest of the word.

Twenty healthy people aged 22-65, and they ate Kalamata olives for sixty days. The results showed a significant increase in HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol) showed a significant reduction.

 “The results are of major importance, as heart disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. There is a great need in the scientific community to find ways which we can protect and help in such cases,” notes Dr. Martha-Spyridoula Katsarou, head of the research.

According to this study and another that took place a few days later, involving 100 people, the daily consumption of Kalamata olives can positively affect the lipid profile and can help reduce the symptoms of cardiovascular diseases and various cancers.

Furthermore, Kalamata olives contain a lot of vitamins such as vitamin A and minerals such as iron. Thus, the regular consumption of this precious Greek fruits, as part of a Mediterranean diet, can positively influence the lipid profile.
